The vibrancy and vitality of faith today depend on the faith that has been passed down, and this will remain the case for future generations. This passage examines the faithful over the ages and argues that the life of faith is central to the transformation of the individual, the church, and the world. Now that the “baton” has been passed to us, we are invited to see the testimonies of the faithful cloud of witnesses across the ages as encouragement. We are all in this together, and we are related to (and dependent upon) those who came before us.
