Reverend Daniel D. Pershing, 91, of Rochester, NY, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Monday, October 12, 2009, in Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. He was born August 13, 1918, in East Huntingdon Township, a son of the late Emerson and Erma McCloy Pershing. Daniel was a member of Park Ridge Free Methodist Church, Rochester, NY, a 1936 graduate of East Huntingdon High School and graduate of Roberts Wesleyan College, Rochester, NY. He was formerly employed by Grafton Feed Store, Mt. Pleasant. The Reverend Pershing served Free Methodist churches in Rochester, PA, Natrona Heights, Penn Hills, Apollo, Washington, PA, Greensburg, and Rochester, NY, from where he retired. Surviving are his wife, Betty Ritenour Pershing; daughter, Sharyn Johnson and husband, Michael, of Fairport, NY; grandchildren, Erin Vandeburg and husband Scott, Colleen and Chelsea Johnson; great-grandson, Brayden Vandeburg; and a sister, Murial Bandemer, of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald, Dean, Denzel and Dale Pershing; sisters, Mary Louise Hilpert and Merle Bandemer; and brother-in-law, Charles Bandemer. The family would like to thank the staff of Excela Health Frick Hospital, especially nurses Lorrie and Sharron. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Daniel may be made to Park Ridge Free Methodist Church.
